How to: Solid Granny Square
Share
If you have mastered the traditional granny square (click here for the traditional granny square pattern on the website or here for the blog post) then you will likely be making plenty of granny squares or looking to progress with the skill you have acquired. It is no secret that I am a big fan of a granny square in pretty much any variation. They are versatile while still being able to retain a look of coziness and warmth when placed with a project, or being the entire project.
Granny squares can be as many, or as little, rows as you wish. For this tutorial, the completed solid granny square will be 4 rows. However, if you are enjoying watching this grow, you can continue to increase the rows to make one large granny square blanket - as big as you wish it to be.
You can also stop at a small amount of rows and join them together to make a large blanket. The solid granny square is just as versatile as the traditional granny square (see link above) and the uses are pretty endless.
So without further ado....lets make a solid granny square!
Skill level - Beginner
Materials needed;
*Wool/Yarn - whichever you choose to use
*Crochet Hook - whichever size correlates to the yarn you have chosen
*Scissors/Snips
*Darning needle (if you feel you need this to weave in ends, I tend to use the crochet hook to do this depending on what I am making.)
The wool and size crochet hook suggested are just that, suggestions. As previously said, the granny square is versatile - so if you would prefer to work with a larger or smaller hook and different corresponding yarn/wool - go for it! Instructions will remain the same. The beauty of the granny square!
